What is Acute Trauma?

Acute trauma refers to a single distressing or overwhelming event.

This might include an accident, medical event, loss, or another experience that felt intense and difficult to cope with at the time.

You might notice

  • Strong emotional reactions after the event
  • Difficulty settling or relaxing
  • Replaying what happened
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Feeling shaken or not like yourself

Why this matters

Even one experience can have a lasting impact, especially if your system did not have the chance to process it.

How therapy can help

Early support can reduce the likelihood of longer term difficulties and help your system return to a more settled state.

If you recognise these symptoms in yourself, you can contact me to discuss how trauma-informed therapy may help. I offer face-to-face sessions in Wheelers Hill and Telehealth across Melbourne.

Saturday appointments available.
