Nenita Batica
- Registered Psychologist & EMDR Therapist
- Women's Mental Health • Trauma Therapy • In-person and Telehealth
I bring over 15 years of experience supporting adults across diverse settings, including:
- Alcohol and other drug services
- Forensic environments
- Inpatient and outpatient mental health
- Family violence services and the non-profit sector
My work focuses on supporting women through evidence-based trauma processing, addressing both symptoms and the underlying patterns that sustain them.
- Childhood trauma and attachment wounds
- Unresolved relational experiences
- Repeated exposure to traumatic experiences
Outside the Therapy Room
Outside of the therapy room, I spend a lot of time on my yoga mat, walking outdoors, and sharing laughs with my favourite humans and non-humans.
I also feel deeply grateful to be surrounded by strong women who mentor, inspire, and support me as close friends.
My pocket Labrador, Bella, is my co-conspirator in every adventure and self-appointed Chief Happiness Officer. Bella has decided she is far more committed to having fun every day than becoming a therapist.

- Both. Weak soy latte in the morning. Ginger tea between sessions.
- A TV show, podcast, or book you always recommend
- Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl
- What would clients notice in the first session with you?
- That the session is theirs to drive, and I will probably remind them to be gentler with themselves
- Most underrated self-care habit
- Walking and stretching. Quick way to reconnect the mind and the body
- A completely ordinary thing you get excited about
- When I see a new leaf in my pot plants. So exciting!
- One thing you wish more women heard growing up
- Rest. I got your back.
- Something you regularly do in your sessions
- Say "I’m a visual person" a lot.
- I grab a pen and paper and try to illustrate my thoughts. I’m not good at drawing though!
- Something I believed would be easier as an adult
- Maintaining friendships, and creating new ones
- Favourite nervous system reset
- Slowing down the breath.
- Breathe in through the nose for 6 counts.
- Hold for 2.
- Long breath out through the mouth for 6 counts like you are a fire breathing dragon.
- Hold for 2.
- Repeat.
- Slowing down the breath.
- What you hope clients feel when they leave their first session?
- Hopeful, validated and heard.
- I also hope that they would consciously acknowledge and celebrate that they have taken a hard step towards change, and choose a form of self-care after each session.
